San Francisco Unified School District Reviews

Rating 4 out of 5
The San Francisco Unified School District (SFUSD) is a large and diverse educational system serving the city of San Francisco. As with any school district, SFUSD has its strengths and weaknesses. SFUSD also offers a variety of academic opportunities for students, including advanced placement courses, career and technical education programs, and partnerships with local businesses and organizations. Additionally, the district places a strong emphasis on social-emotional learning, providing support services and resources to help students navigate personal and academic challenges. However, like many urban school districts, SFUSD faces challenges such as overcrowded classrooms, funding constraints, and disparities in academic achievement among different student groups. These issues can impact the quality of education and require ongoing attention and resources to address effectively.

The district does a bad job of listening to the public. Mostly everyone I know has been discontent with some of the changes they are making to the school schedule, and I heard from a teacher that the higher ups basically gave them no choice but to agree with them. However, the public schools in SFUSD are definitely very diverse and are a welcoming community. I like how they're taking students' mental health into account by having a Wellness Center, and also encouraging a lot of student run activities.
